Mr. Poindexter joined Poindexter &
Doutré in 1994, and was formerly a partner with the law firm of
Cooper, White & Cooper. He is a member of the firm. He received
his B.A. (cum laude) from Yale University in 1975 and J.D. from
the University of California at Davis in 1980. He engages in
civil litigation in state and federal courts. He is a member of
the Bar Association of San Francisco and the real estate section
of the State Bar of California.
Mr. Poindexter specializes in the areas of real estate and
construction. He advises clients on real estate transactions and disputes.
He represents building owners, developers and property managers on a wide
range of real estate disputes, particularly claims relating to office and
retail lease obligations, maintenance and repair of premises, accessibility,
payment of rent and operating expenses, broker commissions, and premises
liability. In addition, he represents clients in a variety of commercial
construction disputes, including representation of owners, contractors,
material suppliers, and sureties in claims arising from construction
defects, breach of contract, and enforcement of mechanic’s liens.
Mr. Poindexter has extensive experience in
the area of consumer credit reporting and related
disputes, particularly claims arising out of the federal
and state fair credit reporting laws. He has also
represented firm clients in probate and estate planning
matters, particularly disputes arising from testamentary
gifts to charities.
